On November 16, 1968, sixteen ladies received the charter to the Epsilon Theta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, the first member of the Tau B Province. This was the third Greek organization on the campus of Appalachian State University, preceded by Alpha Psi Omega and the Rho Tau Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Since then, this chapter has completed many service projects, including the Appalachian Young Musicians Workshop for local children, and the Jessica Ruth Earley Scholarship Fund.
Many awards have also been won by the chapter. This chapter was also featured in the fraternity journal, Pan Pipes, for being "the little chapter that could." We have also won the College Chapter Achievement Award in the years 1972-1973, 1975-1976, 1976-1977, 1980-1981, 1981-82, 1985-1986, 1990-1991, and 1991-1992. In 2019, Epsilon Theta received the Tau B Chapter Achievement Award.
We celebrated our 50th anniversary with a three-day celebration with our alumnae from November 30-December 2, 2018. In 2020, Epsilon Theta was the winner of the 2019-2020 Tau B Province Collegiate Chapter Achievement Award, the 2019-2020 Region VI Collegiate Chapter Achievement Award, and the 2020 Katherine Becker National Collegiate Chapter award. Our sisters have been very dedicated to our chapter, and we can't wait to see where the future takes us!
In 2021, Epsilon Theta became a part of the newly-formed Tau F province, alongside Eta Theta at Western Carolina University, Lambda Beta at Mars Hill University, and the Asheville Alumnae chapter.
In 2022, Epsilon Theta became a part of the Psi A province alongside Eta Theta at Western Carolina University, Lambda Beta at Mars Hill University, Gamma Rho at University of Tennessee Knoxville, and the Knoxville Alumnae and Asheville Alumnae chapter.
